Akamai report finds enterprise AI use concentrated in unmanaged accounts and extensions
Image: Primary Akamai reported that its enterprise AI telemetry found the top 5% of power users interact with AI models at 12 times the rate of the bottom half of workers.
The report said 47.11% of enterprise AI conversations use personal rather than corporate-managed identities, while 16.31% of AI extensions contain known CVEs. It also found that nearly 75% of those extensions request high or critical permissions. The findings describe a growing exposure from AI tools and agents operating outside established enterprise controls.
