Google Gemini Receives Major App Update

Google is planning a comprehensive redesign of its Gemini app with a modernized interface and new features, according to a report by TECHBOOK. The full rollout of the update is still pending, but initial users are already reporting changes. Early glimpses that have surfaced on social media show a modernized interface with altered navigation and structure. At the center is a newly designed homepage that will use a pill-shaped prompt field instead of the traditional input bar. Voice control and Gemini Live are now directly integrated into the homepage, as reported by 9To5Google. Additional options are hidden behind a plus symbol on the left edge of the input field. Through this symbol, users can select photos, start the camera, or access recently used images. Google is reorganizing the available tools. Features such as images, videos, music, canvas, deep research, and guided learning appear collectively in a list with brief explanations. The navigation has also been adjusted. The model selection is now found as a dropdown in the upper left corner. An unusual innovation for Google apps is that the account switch is placed at the bottom of the navigation menu. However, this could be due to the leaked iPhone photos, while Android users may retain a different view. On the iPhone, Google places special emphasis on the liquid-glass look of iOS in the new design. How the redesign will appear on Android devices is still unclear. The new view is being distributed randomly. Users report that their app simply shut down during use and, after a restart, the new design was active. A widespread rollout does not seem to have started yet, but it is likely to be expected soon.
