AI-designed protein vehicle delivers RNA in cell and animal tests
Image: Primary Researchers at Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich reported an RNA transporter assembled from functional protein components and a generative-AI-designed structural protein. In tests of more than 100 variants, STV-C8 delivered RNA into cell cultures more efficiently than the virus-like particles and lipid nanoparticles tested. In mice, intravenously administered STV-C8 produced RNA expression primarily in the lungs. A pig muscle experiment removed a disease-relevant dystrophin-gene section using CRISPR/Cas9 components.
