Waymo unveils 5nm sensor-processing ASIC for autonomous driving
Waymo said it has developed a purpose-built 5nm ASIC to process, fuse and run neural networks on raw lidar, radar and camera data in real time. The company said the chip's specialized accelerators handle front-end processing and ML models with more than 1,000 TOPS of performance. Waymo said the hardware is part of a broader heterogeneous onboard compute system designed for low-latency driving decisions, redundancy and operation under vehicle vibration and temperature conditions.
