Moment, a pan-African payments fintech, closed a $22 million Series A led by AlphaCode Venture Partners, with continued investment from General Catalyst and MultiChoice and new capital from Canal+, IT News Africa reported. The company said it has raised $55 million since inception and will use the new round to deepen its network, enhance its platform, and accelerate expansion across Africa. Moment markets payment collection and revenue-retention tools for corporate and enterprise merchants operating across fragmented local payment rails. AlphaCode general partner Dominique Collett said Africa's payment complexity acts as a hidden tax on commerce and that Moment is building continental-scale collection infrastructure already used by large enterprises. The company said it is adding locally preferred collection methods and tightening reconciliation so merchants can collect across markets and receive funds faster.
