Dubai's VDX facility has received certification from the United Arab Emirates' General Civil Aviation Authority to operate electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft. The Skyports Infrastructure project beside Dubai International Airport is planned as the hub of a four-vertiport air-taxi network and includes two takeoff and landing areas, rapid charging and passenger facilities. Skyports says VDX could handle up to 170,000 passengers annually once operations are fully underway. Aircraft certification, fleet deployment and airspace management remain unresolved.
