Russia's government has banned cryptocurrency mining and mining-pool participation in Moscow, the surrounding region and parts of Kursk through the end of 2032 under Government Decree No. 936. The measure is intended to reduce pressure on the power grid. The report says mining currently uses about 1 GW in Moscow and could reach 3.6 GW by 2032, while mining remains permitted in Siberian and eastern territories.
