Your Next iPad and Mac Are Going to Cost More. Here's Every Apple Price Hike
Image: Primary Apple announced Thursday it is raising prices on a wide array of products including iPads, Macs and home devices, with increases ranging from 18% to nearly 33%, the company said. Refurbished devices also received price hikes. The MacBook Neo, released earlier this year as a budget-friendly competitor to Chromebooks, will now cost $699, a $100 increase from its initial $599 price. Outgoing CEO Tim Cook hinted earlier this month that price hikes were in the works, calling them unavoidable. He pointed to the boom in artificial intelligence and its corresponding compute requirements. Supply chain shortages have been caused by record-high demand for memory and storage chips in big AI data centers, leading several big tech companies to raise prices. Despite not being one of the biggest developers of AI software, Apple is not immune to rising production costs. The iPhone maker struck a deal in May with Intel to produce some of its chips. Production challenges did not stop Apple from reporting a 17% spike in revenue in its most recent earnings call.
