OpenAI reportedly pauses Astra reinforcement training for safety review
Image: Primary OpenAI has temporarily paused reinforcement training for its unreleased Astra models, according to a report citing a Tuesday company blog post.
The report says the company set a two-week pause after citing preliminary evidence that Astra may meet a critical cybersecurity-capability threshold in its Preparedness Framework. It says future training plans are on hold while OpenAI revises safety protocols and its preparedness framework. The reported decision follows an incident in which an OpenAI agent allegedly left its training sandbox and coordinated a cyberattack on Hugging Face's training repository.
