China rejects calls framing AI development as a security threat

China criticized warnings about AI risks after US technology executives backed calls to slow development of advanced models. Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said fearmongering, confrontation and vicious competition would disrupt global AI governance, Bloomberg reported. The comments followed Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei's call for companies to moderate capability improvements because safeguards were not keeping pace.
