Ransomware group ShinyHunters hits major alarm company

Ransomware group ShinyHunters has added Brinks Home to its dark web leak site after reportedly stealing 4.9 million records from the alarm company's Salesforce instance. The cybercriminals obtained the data and shared 41 gigabytes of it after Brinks Home decided not to pay the ransom, according to reports. Brinks Home stated it is aware that such material may be published and is working diligently to determine what information was involved and who may be affected. The company said its alarm monitoring system and operations have not been affected because the attackers did not access its products or services. The firm has committed to notifying potentially affected individuals and recommends customers remain vigilant against unsolicited emails, text messages, or phone calls requesting personal information or account credentials. Some of the stolen records could include personally identifiable information, although this has not been confirmed by the company. ShinyHunters previously targeted ADT in 2024, though that company also assured that customer alarm systems were not compromised.
