US blockade cuts Iran oil exports as Hormuz flows shift to Gulf producers

US military pressure has loosened Iran's grip on the Strait of Hormuz while a blockade has virtually halted Iran's own oil exports, according to Kpler figures cited by Fast Company. Iran's exports fell from 1.85 million barrels a day last spring to about 255,000 in August, while non-Iranian exports rose from 300,000 barrels a day at the war's height to 8.4 million in September, or 10.8 million including alternative routes. Brent crude surged above $100 this week and diesel hit a record. The increased flow depends on a major US deployment in the strait that has strained military resources, and the war, launched in February, has cost more than $37.5 billion with no diplomatic progress since a June agreement crumbled.
