Bernie Sanders Image: Primary
Senators Bernie Sanders and Greg Cezar announced the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act, a proposal to pause advanced AI development. The bill would establish a cabinet-level federal agency to enforce a prohibition on artificial superintelligence, according to the report. Entities or developers that violate its pauses and prohibitions could face prison terms of up to 20 years. The proposal also calls for pursuing international agreements and allied coordination to ban superintelligence globally.
