DuckDB previews server mode and storage changes for version 2.0
DuckDB previewed version 2.0, planned for release this fall, with a stable client/server capability, a new default storage format and a new SQL parser.
Its Quack extension will let a DuckDB process serve databases over a network, while the CONNECT statement can route queries to remote databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL. The release also proposes asynchronous I/O for remote storage, triggers, expanded VARIANT support and changes intended to reduce memory pressure from large indexes and wide tables.
DuckDB said the version includes a limited set of breaking changes.
