Google will begin enforcing per-app memory limits for Android devices from February 2027, with apps that exceed the thresholds subject to slowing, termination and potentially reduced Play Store visibility, according to The Next Web's report on developer documentation. The limits vary by device memory configuration; the report cites a 2.25GB foreground limit on an 8GB phone. Google said manufacturers will increasingly apply the limits across devices with 4GB to 16GB or more of RAM.
