SK Hynix is considering a memory-chip plant in Miyagi prefecture, Japan, and could invest tens of trillions of won, Reuters reported, citing the Hankyoreh newspaper and industry sources. Reuters said the company is looking to expand production capacity amid global memory-chip demand and that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won recently visited the area. SK Hynix said it has made no decision, adding that any location with the necessary infrastructure could be a potential candidate.
