Grounded raises $5 million and opens Detroit van-customization plant
Image: Primary Grounded has closed a $5 million seed round and opened a 50,000-square-foot Detroit manufacturing facility for its modular vehicle-customization business. Production at the facility starts this month, with capacity expected to ramp next year. The startup is making its platform vehicle-agnostic after General Motors discontinued BrightDrop and Ford dropped plans for a next-generation electric Transit, allowing it to customize electric and combustion-powered fleet vehicles.
