Nvidia backs Ohio AI campus planned for 8 gigawatts of OpenAI compute
Image: Primary Nvidia will provide up to $105 billion in financing toward an Ohio AI data-center project that OpenAI has agreed to lease for 20 years, according to the companies.
The Pike County site is planned to reach about eight gigawatts of computing capacity, with Nvidia as its exclusive chip provider. The companies said the first 800 megawatts of compute are expected to be available in 2028. Nvidia said its financing will backstop defined portions of lease and power payments rather than the project's full cost.
OpenAI said the six-year buildout through 2032 is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs and 2,500 long-term operating jobs.
