FBI investigates alleged market for 153 million driver-license records

The FBI's New Orleans field office has opened an investigation into an alleged database marketed on a Russian cybercrime forum that claimed to contain more than 153 million U.S. and Canadian driver's licenses. Cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs reported that sample and preview records appeared legitimate and that affected people had used Hertz or Planet13, which use IDScan for identity verification. IDScan said it was investigating; the source does not establish the breach's cause or confirm the full record count.
