TUM team reports photonic waveguides lift desired photon share

TUM team reports photonic waveguides lift desired photon share Image: Primary
Researchers at the Technical University of Munich and the Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology reported a photonic-crystal-waveguide method for single-photon sources used in quantum-network research. Rather than amplifying a chosen frequency with a resonator, the waveguides suppress unwanted frequencies. In initial erbium experiments, the share of desired photons in emitted light rose from about 23% to around 72%. The work was published in Nature Communications.
