LG Display has introduced FLiPP, a proposed OLED patterning method that replaces fine metal masks with photolithography. According to the report, the process increases subpixel aperture ratio by up to 55%, with claimed 1.6-times brightness, 2.4-times longer lifespan and 13% lower power use. LG has internally produced a panel using a full 8.5-generation motherglass and says it plans to invest 3 trillion won to begin production with the technology by late 2027.
